Blue Peace Middle East (Blue Peace ME) participated in the 4th Baghdad International Water Conference from April 27-29, 2024, to promote its vision and activities in policy dialogue, water diplomacy, research, and education. Represented by a delegation from Jordan, Iraq, Türkiye, and Iran, Blue Peace ME showcased its pioneering role as a regionally owned platform dedicated to fostering water cooperation and peace in the Middle East since its establishment in 2010. During the conference, the initiative led a technical session titled "Transboundary Cooperation for Water, Peace, and Resilience," where they presented the findings of their Water Footprint Assessment. This session emphasized the need for efficient water use, equitable allocation, and enhanced cooperation to tackle the region's water challenges. Participants discussed the implications of the Water Footprint Study, highlighting the urgent need for diversified water sources and increased resilience. The event reinforced the importance of transboundary cooperation, with panelists exploring innovative solutions to address water scarcity and promote sustainable water management in the Middle East.
